The recent World Food Forum hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) was a dynamic platform for global discourse on the most pressing issues facing our world today. Our COO, Emmastellar Gakuo as the representative of Savanna Circuit,  had the privilege of participating in this prestigious event, and we’re excited to share our team’s impactful contributions and experiences.

Savanna Circuit’s Spotlight: Innovations for Sustainable Agriculture

Our team had the honor of shedding light on Savanna Circuit’s groundbreaking work in the field of sustainable agriculture. The central theme of the forum, “Science and Innovation,” allowed us to discuss how low-carbon innovations can drive climate action and transform food systems, particularly in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). We emphasized the pivotal role of innovation in addressing the complex challenges faced by global agriculture.

A Unique Perspective: Bridging Science, Innovation, and Traditional Knowledge

One of the key takeaways from the event was the compelling discussion around the synergy between science, innovation, and indigenous or traditional knowledge. This dialogue demonstrated the potential for a harmonious coexistence, highlighting how these diverse streams of knowledge can collaboratively support environmental sustainability and shape the future of agriculture and food systems.

Inspirational Stories and Collaborative Endeavors

Throughout the week, being immersed in inspirational stories and engaged in high-level bilateral meetings. The resounding message was the need for intergenerational collaboration and transformative partnerships to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Science and Innovation Forum, in particular, emphasized the essential role of partnerships and collective efforts in building a better world for all.

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs

One of the event’s highlights was the launch of the FAO-IAFN accelerator, led by Robynne Anderson. This initiative exemplified the incredible impact of mentorship in supporting African women-led businesses. We had the privilege of witnessing mentors and mentees in action, with encouraging remarks from FAO Deputy Director-General Beth Bechdol, underscoring the significance of empowering women entrepreneurs.

Building Global Alliances

In a special moment during the event, we had the opportunity to engage with the Deputy Head of Mission, Ambassador Connie Maina, and her attaché, Anthony Muriithi. This interaction emphasized the importance of global collaboration and reinforced our commitment to working together to make a positive change for our planet and future generations.

In conclusion, the World Food Forum at FAO was a monumental gathering that provided our team with a platform to make a meaningful impact. Through our collective efforts in climate action, sustainable development, innovation, mentorship, and partnerships, we are making progress toward our shared goals. Our team at Savanna Circuit is proud to have been a part of this global initiative and remains dedicated to contributing to a better world for all.
